According to an SFDA report, in 2013, 75 adverse events of death and 34,542 serious injury events were reported to the National Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Center, an increase of 46.9% over 2012. It's noted that 70.1% of dubious adverse events on medical devices were operated by the professionals.
With more attention paid by the Chinese government on the quality of medical devices and health products, the national and provincial quality inspection departments are gradually increasing their efforts on quality control and inspection. In the new Regulations on Supervision and Management to Medical Instruments implemented in June 2014, there are very strict regulatory requirements for the manufacturing quality of medical devices, which require manufacturers to establish and perfect the production to adapt to the quality management system and to ensure its effective operation.
