The Board of Governors, which steers the Manufacturing Leadership Council (MLC), approved the nominations early last month. With these appointments, the Board of Governors now includes 17 members from organizations such as Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, Lexmark International, the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII), Germany's SmartFactory Technology Initiative, Dell Computer, Cisco Systems, UCLA, MIT, and the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) in the U.K.

Pietro D'Arpa is director of Corporate Global Manufacturing and responsible for the manufacturing strategies and capabilities of Procter & Gamble's 130 manufacturing sites around the world. He has worked at P&G for 29 years, serving in a variety of manufacturing and supply chain roles across many of its business divisions, including detergents, pet care, paper and beauty products. He also has broad international experience, including senior positions in Italy, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and the United States. Known for creating new, progressive manufacturing solutions and innovations in manufacturing and supply chain, he has been a champion of the transformation of manufacturing at P&G, leveraging disruptive innovative solutions, from digitization to automation, to help drive P&G's business and deliver value to its customers. D'Arpa has been an active member of the MLC for many years and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy.
Val Zanchuk is president and majority owner of New Hampshire-based precision castings company Graphicast Inc. An ESOP company, in which an employee-owner program provides the workforce with an ownership interest in the company, Graphicast has been listed as an Inc. 5000 company, is a winner of two Manufacturing Leadership Awards, and has been twice voted as a "Best Company to Work For" in New Hampshire. An active member of the MLC for the past six years, Zanchuk also serves on the board of directors of the New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership, advisory boards at the Manchester School of Technology and NH Technical Institute, and serves as chair of the Governor's Pre-Engineering and Technology Curriculum Advisory Council. He is also chair-elect of the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, the state's largest and most influential business advocacy and lobbying group, and frequently testifies at legislative hearings on industry-related issues.
