Pitch Tonight - Investors and Startups Meet in the Holy City

On May 18th, Pitch Tonight event: For the first time, the "Investors and Startups Night" event took place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, bringing together the best local entrepreneurs to pitch directly to leading investors.

Pitch Tonight was formed with the purpose of connecting promising startups and entrepreneurs with the right investors and business opportunities: "One of the Israeli tech scene's strongest suits is the solid sense of community, and we feel privileged to help promote great startups as part of this community. We are honored, as always, to have such incredible members of the tech arena take part in this event, and are excited to see what connections are formed following tonight," said Gil Shourka, one of the group's founders and co- organizer.

Following greetings by Shourka, Amit Zilberstein of HUstart - the Hebrew University Center for Entrepreneurship - took the stage to discuss the upcoming plans and events held at HUstart. Soon after, Yisrael Gross, co-organizer of the event, presented Incubit Technology Ventures, one of the group's supporters, as well as an investor in Gross' startup L7 Defense.

Incubit is a technology incubator, located in Be'er-Sheva and is part of the OCS incubator program, owned by Elbit Systems an Israeli High-Tech company (NASDAQ:ESLT). Incubit's goal is to invest in innovative, early-stage startups with deep technologies, promoting them to secure further growth and future investments. Incubit invest in civilian infrastructure markets such as: Cyber, Communication, ICT, Networks, Automation, Nano Technology, IT, Electro-Optics, Aviation, Vision & Image Processing, Medical Devices and more.

During the event, each one of the carefully selected startups was given only 100 seconds to pitch their startup to the distinguished panel of investors, led by Izhar Shay, General Partner of Cannan Partners Israel. The presenter was then asked a series of spontaneous questions by the panel, addressing their startup's concept, current state and future plans, as well as given valuable feedback and advice.  

The panel was attended by Jon Medved, Founder and CEO at OurCrowd, Ori Choshen,

CEO at VLX Ventures, Astorre Modena, Managing Partner at Terra Venture Partners, and Elie Wurtman Managing Partner at PICO Partners.

The startups listed below were chosen to pitch at the event, and offer innovative solutions in a variety of fields:

MovinGame: The startup, presented by Co-Founder and CEO Yael Tamar, encourages positive habit building by harnessing technology and neuroscience to create sustainable healthy lifestyles in tweens.

CareNav: A digital health solution offering patient navigation services by matching patients with experienced nurses. CareNav was presented by Raissa Hacohen, Co-Founder and CEO.

Strattic: The company's solution to vulnerable WordPress sites, turning them into a lightweight, scalable, non-hackable static websites, was presented by Miriam Schwab, Founder and CEO.

Talklet: Lulu Dubin, CEO & Co-Founder, pitched a children's wearable device that records & analyzes speech, and offers metrics to parents & speech professionals.

Fenror7: Alon Golan, Co-Founder and CTO, pitched a cyber security solution that lowers the TTD (Time To Detection) of hackers, malwares and APTs in enterprises and organizations by 90 percent.

Say2Eat: The startup was presented by Li-ran Navon, Co-Founder and CEO, and offers an innovative, chatbots-based way of online ordering that opens new selling channels to reach an untapped, billion size audience.

Following the startup pitches, the investors' panel answered questions regarding their tips for investment seekers, common mistakes made by young startups and their commitment to encouraging women in tech.
