DUBLIN, October 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Customers of Ireland's largest bookmaker, Paddy Power, will be celebrating with a haka of their own today as the bookie has announced it is paying out on New Zealand as the winners of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
With pundits unanimous in saying the World Cup is already over Paddy Power has put their money where their mouth is with a massive €650,000 payout some five days ahead of Sunday's final in Auckland against France.
Paddy Power said: "New Zealand has left all of their opposition so far feeling All Black and blue and it's inevitable us bookies will be taking a hammering from them on Sunday too so punters may as well collect now."
The All Blacks were Paddy Power's 4/6 pre-tournament favourites while France were available at a generous 16/1. A New Zealand/France final was 11/2 with the French - billed by many as the worst team to ever reach a rugby world cup final - now 6/1 to pull off an upset and have Paddy Power choking on their New Zealand lamb.
Last weekend Paddy Power refunded over €220,000 in losing match bets in the Wales vs France semi-final following the controversial sending off of Welsh captain Sam Warburton.
