Off The Map Travel Launch New Aurora Village
BATH, England, October 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Northern Lights travel expert, Off the Map Travel, has this month launched a new and exciting way for holidaymakers from Singapore to experience the Aurora Borealis, with the announcement of the Aurora Village overnight experience in northern Sweden.
The Aurora Village is made up of a collection of three traditional Swedish ice-fishing huts that are placed on the frozen lake Badsjön during the winter months in the mountains surrounding the world famous Northern Lights region of Bjorkliden and Abisko in northern Sweden.
The huts, which are traditionally used by ice-fisherman in the region during the Arctic winter, have uninterrupted views of the greatest light show on earth. Jonny Cooper, director of Off the Map Travel and Northern Lights expert, explains; "Isolated from any light pollution on the frozen lake with pitch black skies, the huts give you perfect conditions to experience the Aurora. Although you feel like you are deep in the Arctic Circle, the huts are easily accessible with a guide by either snowmobile or snowshoe from your base in Bjorkliden. This makes it a perfect adventure for those of all ages and abilities.
"The huts themselves are an adventure in their own right. The cozy, heated and insulated, traditional Swedish ice-fishing huts give you the chance to really appreciate and experience life in the Arctic."
Available from December, once the lake has fully frozen over, the chance to stay in at the Aurora Village has already attracted a lot of interest from Northern Lights holidaymakers from across Singapore, even before its official launch.
Lynn Tulip, who has booked into the Aurora Village, said; "The Northern Lights has always been on our to-do list and the opportunity of spending a night in the wilderness during our stay at the Aurora Village was too good to miss. We are very excited about the adventure and the thought of seeing the Aurora in the wild."
After the evening's adventure on the ice at the Aurora Village, a guide returns in the morning with a hot breakfast to wrap up the perfect Arctic adventure.
Cooper adds: "The beauty of the new Aurora Village is that the traditional ice-fishing huts are semi-mobile, so they can be taken to the best possible spots to experience the Northern Lights. The lake on which they will sit this winter not only gives guests an adventure into the Arctic mountains, but also dark skies and stunning views, giving spectacular Aurora spotting conditions."
A four-night trip to Bjorkliden and Abisko in northern Sweden costs from 2871 SGD (£1,399) per person on a full-board basis with accommodation for three nights in a four-star hotel and one night in the Aurora Village. Price includes a Lights Over Lapland photography trip, dogsledding and snowmobiling for two adults; flights excluded.
