- Originator of Urban Mobility & Lifestyle Sports Helmets Invests Heavily in European Brand Expansion for 2013 and beyond
PORTLAND, Oregon, March 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nutcase, Inc., the original lifestyle sports helmet brand that launched a global trend in 2006, today announces extensive, new plans for the Nutcase brand in Europe. The company, which sells beautifully designed, modern graphic helmets and accessories in the bike, skate, snow, and water sports categories, is now partnering with summer and winter outdoor sport distributors covering all major European markets.
The change in distribution model includes new Dusseldorf-based business development representation and a central distribution center in Holland. This follows Nutcase's termination January 31, 2013 of its five-year relationship with Intelligent Mobility GmbH. Based on increasing differences in business practices, Nutcase owners Michael Morrow and Miriam Berman felt it necessary to terminate the relationship and work directly with individual country distributors.
"European retailers and customers are savvy. They recognize and support originality, authenticity and innovation in the brands they choose. The Nutcase brand has had a love affair with European customers for over five years now, and our romance with Europe is only just beginning," says Michael Morrow, the Portland, Oregon entrepreneur who first conceived of the Nutcase brand concept in November 2000. "Nutcase is about celebrating the authentic, creative spirit that yearns to be expressed in people anywhere on earth. We believe creativity, imagination, and individual expression are critical to the happiness of mankind, whether young or old, male or female, or any color under the sun."
In summer 2013, Nutcase will launch their next generation of Street Sport helmets, the "Gen 3". The Gen 3 Street Sport helmet will highlight new graphic designs and product features combined with the same classic urban style that customers and dealers around the world have come to love. Like all current Nutcase street helmets, the Gen 3 will feature the Nutcase signature magnetic chinstrap buckle from Fidlock GmbH, a feature that has proven to be a huge fan favorite worldwide.
"Nutcase and Fidlock have enjoyed an exciting, productive working relationship since 2009 which has been hugely beneficial for both parties," says Christian Schoene, Managing Director, Fidlock GmbH . "Fidlock's unique, cutting edge technology is a natural fit for the superior design of the Nutcase product range and it`s commanding position within the helmet marketplace."
Other 2013-14 introductions will include a more comprehensive apparel and accessories product line that will fuel Nutcase's expansion into a year round, multi-dimensional consumer lifestyle brand.
"Miriam and I created Nutcase with the intention of building a great company that is as inspiring to our employees, distributors, vendors and dealers as it is to our legion of loyal fans across the globe," adds Morrow. "We are on a mission to create the most inspiring urban mobility brand in the world. Our trusted partners in Europe are critical players in the long term growth of the Nutcase Brand."
Nutcase's new and current distribution partners have already begun work on sales of existing product lines and plans for the introduction of the Nutcase Gen3 Street Sport Helmet.
Nutcase designs, produces and distributes bicycle, skate, snowboard and water sport helmets, apparel and accessories in over 35 countries worldwide. The company is widely regarded as the originators of infusing modern graphic design with safety helmets & protective gear. The Nutcase concept was originally created by Michael Morrow, former Global Creative Director at Nike, when he designed a graphic interpretation of a Watermelon applied to a multi-purpose bicycle helmet in 2002. The Nutcase brand entered the market place in the United States in January 2006, with the brand launching numerous worldwide best sellers including the 8-Ball, Swirl, Star Bright, Fly Boy, Checkerboard, Daisy Stripe, Blackdana, and Dots. In all, Nutcase has produced more than 100 unique, original designs.
