New Online Help for Primary School Children to Cope with Their Problems
DERBY, England, June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The Children's Society and packaging supplies company Davpack have joined forces to create a new online resource for primary schools to help children deal with their problems.
The free primary school resource features a 'Barry the Box' classroom exercise that will help seven to 11-year-olds imagine a character with different problems. Through it, teachers can help children explore different situations or issues and help them understand how to cope with their problems better and realise they don't have to face them alone.
Barry the Box complements The Children's Society's online Key Stage 2 Schools resource My Life 4 Schools http://www.mylife4schools.org.uk, which helps teachers educate children about their emotional development.
The Children's Society, one of the UK's leading charities, and Davpack are also launching a national poster competition to help promote Barry the Box and highlight the many issues that young children face and identify who can help.
Schools are being asked to encourage pupils to enter their own poster designs showing Barry solving his problems. Fun prizes can be won, including vouchers for family days out and cinema tokens.
Barney Byfield, Managing Director of Davpack, said: "We are delighted to announce our support for The Children's Society, and this joint project helps them to reach out to children across the UK.
"With the Barry the Box activity, we are getting the important message across to children that when they are faced with worries on all sides, they don't have to face them alone.
"We've set a target of over £10,000 to raise towards help for vulnerable children in the UK, and everyone can do their bit to help achieve this goal by simply liking and sharing our charity webpage on social media."
Maggie Allen, Corporate Partnerships Development Manager at The Children's Society, said: "We are really excited about this opportunity to work with Davpack.
"Barry the Box is an important way to involve children in understanding and addressing their problems. The Children's Society has been working to improve disadvantaged children's lives for over 130 years. Empowering them is key to our work and Barry the Box can help us achieve this."
In addition to Barry the Box, Davpack aims to raise over £10,000 towards The Children's Society's work to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children across England. Visit http://www.davpack.co.uk/ChildrensSociety.htm to see what you can do.
