New ITIL® Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) Qualification is Launched
HIGH WYCOMBE, England, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The Official ITIL Accreditor is pleased to announce the completion of the ITIL Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) qualification review. Candidates studying in English for the MALC qualification can use the new guidance and take an updated version of the examination from today.
This review was conducted as part of continuous improvement for the scheme and incorporated the views of ATOs, end-user organisations and candidates who had achieved the qualification to ensure the qualification meets its intent as the final stage to ITIL Expert certification.
The new MALC qualification is aligned to the 2011 edition of ITIL. It has a higher level of difficulty than the Intermediate qualifications. The exam duration has been increased from one and a half to two hours and number of questions on each examination paper has increased from eight to ten. The exam is based on a case study which is used on sample and live examination papers so candidates can prepare.
Maggie Kneller, MALC project manager, said: "The new syllabus emphasizes the cross-lifecycle focus, from the two perspectives of managing services across the service lifecycle, and of managing the practice of service management across the service lifecycle. The MALC Review project involved extensive consultation with stakeholders, in order to base its findings and recommendations on the most comprehensive feedback. The new MALC takes a managerial, strategic perspective of ITIL across the lifecycle. It has been our aim to produce a MALC syllabus and examination which is deserving of its position as the final 'capstone' leading to the prestigious ITIL Expert certification."
Sharon Taylor, ITIL Chief Examiner, said: "The release of the ITIL MALC 2011 qualification is the latest of the ITIL update alignment initiatives. This marks the successful completion of updates to ITIL 2011 aligned qualifications, and is the culmination of a team effort by the Accreditor, Examiners, Examination Institutes and Accredited Training Organizations. Not only has MALC been aligned to ITIL 2011, it has undergone extensive structural enhancements as part of the ongoing commitment by the Accreditor to continually seek quality improvements that benefit the ITIL community."
Translation into German and Japanese will follow in line with ITIL 2011 publications translation.
