England, Wales and Italy Face a Struggle in Six Nations Match Ups
England, Wales and Italy face tough encounters in the opening weekend of games in the 2012 Six Nations according to a new interactive infographic from Thomson holidays'.
The new infographic allows Six Nations fans to see the performance of each team for the past eight tournaments, showing the head-to-head records of all the different matches.
A new-look England team takes on Scotland in Edinburgh in their first game of the 2012 Six Nations. The new infographic shows that despite England winning five of the last eight encounters with Scotland, England have not won at Murrayfield since 2004.
An exciting young Wales team won a host of plaudits for their performances in the 2011 World Cup. However, they face a tough match in their opening game, playing away in Ireland at the intimidating Aviva Stadium.
Wales' last win in Ireland was four years ago in 2008 in a closely fought match, in which they managed to hold on and win by just four points. Wales' last encounter in Dublin, during the 2010 Six Nations, was a very different affair, with Ireland dominating, and maintaining a lead from mid-way through the second half to the final whistle.
The last match up sees 2011 World Cup finalists, France take on Italy in Paris. Historically, France would be the overwhelming favourites in this fixture, however in last year's Six Nations, Italy staged a thrilling comeback against the French in Rome to win by just a single point. This clinched their first ever victory over France in the competition and now only England and Ireland remain unbeaten by Italy.
