History Favours the Giants Over the Brady Bunch
The early odds are favouring Tom Brady's New England Patriots to win Super Bowl XLVII against the New York Giants but a new infographic from Thomson holidays shows how The New York Giants emerged victorious the last time they met in 2008.
The new infographic shows that despite the Patriot's impressive record, with six appearances in the Super Bowl, including a great streak between 2002 and 2005, it was the Giants who edged out a victory (17-14) the last time the two teams met in the Super Bowl.
The interactive infographic also looks at the Super Bowl records of all the teams in the NFL. Despite losing to the Giants in the playoffs, The Baltimore Ravens' solitary victory in the Super Bowl was against the New York Giants with a very decisive 34 - 7 victory in 2001.
In the last round before the playoffs last year's winners, the Green Bay Packers went out to the New York Giants, who will take on the Patriots on the 5th February in Indianapolis.
The potential fairytale story of Super Bowl XLVII didn't play out for the San Francisco 49ers, who lost in the play offs and will have to wait another year. Their last Super Bowl appearance was 17 years ago, in 1995. However, the Thomson infographic shows that despite the 49ers absence from recent finals, no one can argue with their 100% record - winning the 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990 and 1995 Super Bowl finals.
The last time the Patriots reached the Super Bowl was in 2008, they left empty handed after being defeated by the New York Giants. The men from New England will be keen to avenge this defeat on Sunday 5th February 2012.
