Nestle Buxton Natural Mineral Water - A Drop of Environmental Leadership
EDINBURGH, Scotland, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
- Nestle to save 20.000 tonnes of water and 450,000 with the help of dry lubrication.
There is no doubt that nature provided Buxton Natural Mineral Water with one of the purest mineral waters in Europe. According to the British Geographical Survey, the water consumed from the source today fell as rain over 5,000 years ago, long before the atmosphere was polluted by any industrial activity.
Nevertheless, it is Nestle Buxton's in-house environmental policies that help to maintain the high quality and purity of mineral water. One of their top environmental priorities is managing its water resources as efficiently as possible. To reduce water consumption Buxton installed a Dry Lube Ltd system in 2003. Today, Buxton is "amongst the best in class in the industry for economy of water use".
James Mahon, Factory Engineering Manager at Buxton comments on the Dry Lube system: "Dry Lubrication of our conveyor systems was a huge leap of faith at the beginning and has proved to have a massive impact, some of the biggest benefits to the business are reduced costs on Effluent and Water, less wear to conveyors and conveyor equipment. Also the general line is alot easier to keep clean due to no puddles everywhere. Our partnership approach with Dry Lube has proved extremely useful there on site engineers are very professional and produce useful reports. As a site we are very happy with the overall service."
David Innes, Engineering Manager at Dry Lube Ltd adds "Nestle Buxton is a key customer in the UK and we are happy to see that we have built such a strong relationship. We are excited to continuously improve Nestles operational and environmental performance in the future"
Dry Lubrication is acknowledged to save significant amounts of water and energy while improving safety performance and line efficiency. In the last 8 years the customized system at 3 PET lines has managed to save 20,000 tonnes of water in the bottling process and has reduced power consumption by 450,000 kWh.
