London-based organisation The Berakah Project unites musicians from Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths. Their 2015 UK tour celebrates the 10th anniversary of this unique collaboration
The Berakah Project (Berakah), the not-for-profit music organisation, will be performing at the Old Market Gallery, Kepple Wharf, Market Streeti n Rotherham, on September 17th.
This free concert celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Berakah project. Their unique sound spans the New World, jazz and classical genres, featuring virtuoso musicians of Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith heritage. The tour, funded by the Arts Council of England, began in London's St. James's Church, and debuts new material and an exciting new string section
Each of the concerts has been organised with local community organisations. In Rotherham, Berakah has worked in conjunction with the Open Minds Theatre Company, an arts organisation delivering workshops, performance and arts projects, contributing towards the regeneration of both the Rotherham community, and communities throughout the North of England.
Mohammed Nazam, the founder of The Berakah Project, says: "I am a deep believer in the power of music to bring people together and to unite communities. In what has been a difficult time for the Rotherham Community, we want to provide an uplifting and unifying occasion to celebrate what is unique and valuable in this community, helping to connect those of all faiths. We are deeply honoured that Berakah has been asked to be such an important part in the healing process."
Steve Rogers, the Artistic Director of OMTC, said: "Open Minds Theatre Company is delighted and privileged to be hosting Berakah at our new gallery as part of their 10th Anniversary tour. Their message that music is a powerful force which draws people together in a positive way is something that we totally believe and is particularly relevant for Rotherham at the moment!"

About Berakah
Berakah, set-up ten years ago, is an inter-faith music initiative dedicated to crossing the boundaries of race, religion and culture through music. The core aim of this not-for-profit organisation is to promote dialogue and understanding between people of different faiths. Music can often build bridges that other wouldn't exist, especially if there is a powerful and positive message in the music itself. The Berakah Project (meaning Grace or Blessing) promotes this message perfectly.
