TreeSize Free scans your hard disk, highlights large files, allows the user to compress seldom-used files and folders, and thus ensures the optimal utilisation of your hard disk storage space. Due to cross-user-account scans, the storage space is now analysed even more thoroughly: if you start up TreeSize Free as an Administrator, it can calculate the sizes of directories for which access is ordinarily not granted, such as "C:\System Volume Information", for example. Because the content of the files cannot be read automatically during this procedure, Windows security remains guaranteed.
Another innovation in terms of convenient display options: you can now specify whether or not individual files should be displayed in the directory tree.
Exclusion of files when scanning
The filter functions have also been significantly expanded in Version 2.7. There are now options for conducting a normal match that takes the wildcards "*" and "?" into account, for performing an exact match and for the evaluation of the pattern as a regular expression. In addition you can specify whether the pattern is to be applied only to the names or to the entire path. Further enhancements have also been made to this freeware solution: as well as the filter for the inclusion of files, exclusion filters can be defined whereby specific folders or files can be permanently excluded from the scan. The user can also apply this exclusion via the context menu.
Faster access to functions via the context menu
The NTFS compression and decompression of an entire directory structure can now also be realised via a folder's context menu. Furthermore, the new "Expand to level x" option can be used to specify whether the expand operation is to be applied to entries and files as well.
TreeSize Free V2.7 is compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP and Windows Server 2008/2003.
