MobileIron Access Named an SC Awards Europe Finalist for Best Mobile Security Solution
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, March 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileIron (NASDAQ:MOBL), the security backbone for the digital enterprise, announced today that MobileIron Access has been shortlisted for Best Mobile Security Solution by the SC Awards Europe.
Business data accessed from the cloud via mobile apps and browsers is vulnerable to compromise. MobileIron Access is the critical security link, acting as a gate on the authentication path between the user and the cloud.
Existing security platforms are optimised either for mobile using enterprise mobility management (EMM), or for cloud using Identity Access Management (IAM) tools or cloud access security brokers (CASB). EMM cannot prevent users from accessing cloud services via unmanaged apps or browsers. Neither IAMs nor CASBs can allow or deny access based on the state of the mobile app or device. Here are examples of the security risks that MobileIron Access solves:
- Jailbroken phone: An employee uses Office 365 mobile app to access business data on a jailbroken smartphone. Business data is now on a hacked device.
- Unmanaged device: A salesperson downloads Salesforce1 app to their spouse's iPad. Business data is now on an unsecured device.
- Parasite app: A salesperson downloads one of the dozens of apps that use APIs to connect to the salesforce.com cloud service. Business data is now in an unauthorised mobile app.
In each of the above scenarios, the cloud service cannot determine if the device or app is non-compliant. MobileIron Access does this by ensuring that only trusted apps on trusted devices can access Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, and other business cloud services.
