Currys & PC World, the UK's leading electrical retailers, will be the very first to sell Microsoft's new and revolutionary Windows 8 operating system to the UK public with an exclusive midnight opening at 00:01 on Friday 26th October.
Customers who brave the autumn weather to queue outside the Currys & PC World store on Tottenham Court Road prior to the opening will also be the first to experience Windows 8 via a giant 60" interactive touch screen which has been installed in the store window. Customers will be able to interact with the new technology to see how Windows has evolved ahead of it becoming available to buy at midnight for the first time in the UK once the store opens.
To encourage tech-lovers and Windows 8 enthusiasts to get down early, Currys & PC World has teamed up with technology giant HP to give customers amazing deals on four specific laptops for one night only. The HP Pavilion G6 E2 laptop with 6GB of RAM and a 750GB harddrive is selling for just £249; the HP Envy A6 with 4GB RAM and 500GB of memory is down £150 to £349; the Envy M6 i5 with 8GB RAM and 1TB memory is £300 off at just £399; and the DV7 i7 with 6GB RAM and 1TB of memory is a massive £400 off, down to £599.
As well as these fantastic offers, the first 300 customers to buy a Windows 8 HP product will not only get a free pair of Beats by Dre Solo headphones worth approximately £150 but will also be entered into a prize draw on the night to win either an all-expenses paid trip to Paris for two to see No Doubt in concert or an all-expenses paid trip for two to the MTV European Music Awards in Frankfurt.
Throughout the evening as customers queue to be the first to get their hands on the new Windows 8 products, Currys & PC World will be laying on warming cups of tea and coffee as well as hot comfort food such as doughnuts and sausage rolls. Event partner HP has flown in renowned US magician and host of TV show Supernaturalist Daniel White to entertain and dazzle the queue with a specially designed array of computer related magic tricks.
Ben Lovett, spokesperson for Currys & PC World, commented: "This is a major new development in computing technology and we are expecting really strong sales of Windows 8 products in the run-up to Christmas and beyond.
"With such fantastic launch offers from HP, the team at our Currys & PC World store on Tottenham Court Road is anticipating a long queue outside the store throughout Thursday evening in the run-up to the 00:01 opening on Friday 26th October."
