Martin Brudnizki Design Studio Announce the Opening of Hartnett Holder & Co

Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (http://www.mbds.com/) is delighted to announce the opening of the new Lime Wood restaurant Hartnett Holder & Co, a collaboration between Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett and Lime Wood's Head Chef, Luke Holder. The restaurant has been entirely redesigned by Martin Brudnizki, whose extensive list of projects includes Le Caprice, Corrigan's, Hix, Scott's and J. Sheekey Oyster Bar.

A stunning Regency country house in the midst of the New Forest National Park, originally established as a hunting lodge in the 18th Century, Lime Wood abounds in the kind of quintessential Englishness befitting of a country house hotel. The essence of this tradition is retained by the refurbishment which emphasises the classic detailing and timeless elegance of the building.

With Brudnizki's aim of "looking to the heritage of the building to create an eclectic design that's full of character; a room to complement both the restaurant's surroundings and the inspired cooking of Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder," Brudnizki has applied a sympathetic décor that shows off Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder's simple, deftly created dishes in the kind of comfortable and unpretentious environment for which he is known.

Brudnizki's inspiration has created something very English - an environment that is refined, relaxed and elegant. Armchairs and sofas are upholstered in a range of patterned, textured fabrics, including rough linens, mohair velvets and aged leathers, and will sit at a lower height that allows guests to sink back and enjoy their five star surroundings. The lighting, a varied mix of delicate chandeliers and sourced antique lamps, is soft and layered, making for a relaxed, residential feel. A convivial addition to the restaurant, Brudnizki has introduced a panelled, dark-stained oak bar, topped with an Irish green marble, to the heart of the room. Meats hang from a wine gantry, while a meat slicer and coffee machine sit on the bar, a reminder of Hartnett's Italian roots and influences. Guests can choose to dine here, in the main dining space, or tucked away in corner sofas for a secluded, romantic hide-away.

Unrivalled furniture makers George Smith have produced bespoke pieces to furnish the project. In keeping with the use of local, foraged produce in Hartnett and Holder's kitchen, each George Smith piece is made in England by entirely traditional methods and with natural materials - British boar bristle, horsehair and duck down all stands in place of synthetic substitutes.

It is a dedication to tradition, delicately balanced with an understanding of contemporary taste, that has produced an experience unrivalled elsewhere in travel or interior design.
