LONDON, October 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
• Long haul holidays become more affordable
• USA remains a popular long-haul destination
• Thomas Cook offer more trips for long haul travellers
Holiday experts at Thomas Cook have recently published figures that show that a greater number of British tourists are looking to take long-haul holidays as the option becomes more affordable.
There are many reasons behind this growth in interest, not least the strength of UK sterling compared to local currencies and also some of the fantastic promotions which have been running recently, including Thomas Cook's 'We Pay your Air Passenger Duty (APD)' which saved holidaymakers hundreds of pounds on their long haul holiday.
Tour operators such as Thomas Cook, who offer cheap holidays and family breaks to far-flung countries has been pleasantly surprised by customer responses, encouraging them to continue offering these attractive deals.
The Post Office recently published figures which backed up Thomas Cook's claims and Sarah Munro, Head of Travel Money for the organisation, revealed: "Tourists who are heading further afield for winter sun can look forward to seeing their money stretch further".[1]
According to Thomas Cook, top destinations for long-haul holidays include Mexico, America and newer hot-spots such as Goa.
Mexico
Mexico holidays have always been popular with us Brits. A wide variety of different resorts ranging from the hectic hustle of Mexico City to the vibrant resorts of Cancun will provide a fantastic break for those looking for a good deal.
Some prices in the country are rising but there is still time to snatch a last minute deal. It is recommended that the traditional US holidays of Spring Break and Thanksgiving be avoided as many American holidaymakers flood Mexico during these times.
The USA
Travellers who opt for Las Vegas holidays are sure to have a fantastic trip. The strength of sterling against the dollar means travellers may well find that their gambling money spreads further and the quality of the resorts in Vegas are also truly stunning.
Goa
--------------------------------------------------
For those in search of nirvana, a trip to the Indian island of Goa could well prove to be rewarding. The resorts of Baga, Calangute and Candolim in the north of the island are always popular and those tourists investing in a competitively priced Goa holiday will find that the long flight is most definitely worth it.
Those who don't just wish to lie on a beach will be able to refurbish their wardrobes with hand tailored clothes whilst many people come to Goa just to explore the spirituality found in meditation centres on the island. Others simply enjoy the island's natural beauty and embrace the opportunity to recharge their batteries at an affordable price.
