London Pass Offers New Summer Treats for Nature Lovers and History Buffs

Nature lovers and history buffs can enjoy a number of new experiences in London this summer with the popular London Pass sightseeing card.
The London Pass (www.londonpass.com), which offers entry to more than 60 attractions, tours and experiences across the UK capital city, allows tourists to save money and time on their sightseeing. New developments for summer 2016 will bring visitors face-to-face with the wonders of Victorian engineering, the British honey bee, ancient Egypt and even a pride of Asiatic lions.
New for nature lovers …
Become a honey bee at The Hive!
From June the world-famous Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew will play host to The Hive, an award-winning 55-feet tall installation that allows visitors to actually experience the journey of the British honey bee. Enter The Hive via a lush wildflower meadow, and once inside thousands of flickering LED lights and an orchestral arrangement will bring this 40-tonne lattice structure to life. Mirroring real-time activity within a nearby living beehive, the sound and light intensity will change as the energy levels in the real hive fluctuate, providing an amazing experiential insight into the life of a bee colony.
Also new at Kew Gardens this summer are the Great Broad Walk Borders. Lining the historic Broad Walk path which is an avenue of cedar trees, the 1,050-feet borders will contain more than 30,000 plants, mainly herbaceous perennials which are designed to peak to spectacular colours in the summer months. At their widest point, the borders will reach nearly 60 feet from the path, narrowing to just 13 feet in front of each cedar.
Enter the Land of the Lions
The newest and most breathtaking exhibit at ZSL London Zoo transports visitors to a recreated Indian landscape in which they can get up close and personal with the residents - mighty Asiatic lions. Three walkways enable immersive exploration of an old Indian train station, crumbling temple clearing and high street. Big cat lovers can even help ZSL's forest rangers deal with a 'lion emergency' in the Gir Forest, lending a hand as the veterinary team come to the rescue!
New for history buffs…
Discover Sicily's story or lost Egypt at the British Museum
This summer London Pass holders can gain entry to one of two major paid exhibitions at the British Museum .'Sicily: Culture and Conquest' runs until 16 August and recounts the island's fascinating history, from the arrival of the Greeks and Phoenicians to the period of enlightenment under Norman rule in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. 'Sunken Cities: Egypt's Lost Worlds' (19 May - 27 November) unveils the lost cities of Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus, which have lain beneath the Nile for more than a thousand years. The stunning finds are the result of more than 20 years of hard work by world-renowned archaeologist Franck Goddio and his team.
Steam and more at the newest London Pass attraction
Get hands-on with the marvels of Victorian engineering at the London Museum of Water and Steam. Newly-introduced to the London Pass, this fascinating collection of original 19th-century steam pumping engines includes the largest working Cornish beam engine in the world and showcases the evolution of steam technology and water supply over the centuries. With working steam engines and a narrow gauge railway in operation every weekend, interactive exhibits and a family Splashzone, it's educational and fun too.
A one-day London Pass is priced at £59 per adult and £39 per child (aged 5-15), and on a one-day break visitors to the city can save after using the pass just three times. For example, paying independently to visit the Tower of London (normally £22), the London Bridge Experience (£26.95) and enjoying the 'hop on, hop off' buses (£22) would ordinarily come to £70.95, but London Pass holders can enjoy the same experiences and save more than £11. Two-day, three-day, six-day and 10-day London Passes are also available.
