Linktel announces Linktel 2016 Wi-Fi, a special subscription plan for internet access for mobile devices in support of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Linktel is using the Aptilo Service Management Platform™ (SMP) to provide carrier Wi-Fi services for the millions of guests expected to attend this global sporting event.

For this campaign, the company will offer a monthly plan of R $ 9.90 for unlimited time. Users can surf the Internet in 60 shopping malls, 30 airports, 140 restaurants, 180 cafes and in all more than 6,500 operator access points across the country at no additional cost. Linktel takes another step in Wi-Fi network security by launching encrypted access.
According to Thiago Romano Ribeiro, account manager, Linktel will offer fans, athletes, organization and supporters of the Olympic Games automated Wi-Fi service with high-speed and encryption certified by Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) 2.0 technology. The Next Generation Hotspot is compatible with 3G / 4G offload so that mobile operators can decongest their mobile networks by offloading the data traffic over Wi-Fi networks. "In this way, users can have the best voice service and transmit high-quality video from any establishment equipped with Linktel hotspots. The new plan is valid until the end of the Olympics," he said.
For the Olympic Games, Linktel has been preparing since 2014 with investments in updating its Wi-Fi access network throughout Brazil, in addition to signing international roaming agreements with major global operators such as Trustive, Boingo, British Telecom, AT&T, among others, to ensure that foreign tourists who come to Brazil to see the Games may have Wi-Fi with the same quality offered in Europe and the United States.
To provide the best coverage in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Linktel signed several agreements and has hotspots in Orla, including Copacabana, seat of the Olympic competitions, as well as 26 stations on the subway lines 1 and 2, airports Galeao and Santos Dumont, and several shopping centers, which will have a larger number of visitors and customers during the Games. It also has access points on Highway BR 040, in a stretch of 24 km, between km 101 (Viaduct Xerém) and 125 km (connection with the avenue Brazil) in Duque de Caxias.
In May the operator also signed an agreement with Flamengo - the Brazilian sports club serving as Olympic and training center for delegations from the United States and Britain, whose athletes and coaching staff will have access to the Linktel Wi-Fi service.
