Light for the World Welcomes Dark & Light
VIENNA, April 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dutch foundation joins European confederation that supports and empowers people with disabilities in developing countries.
Today the Dutch foundation Dark & Light is joining the European confederation of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. Based in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic and now also in The Netherlands, the confederation enables works with local partners on vital projects for people with disabilities in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
'Seeing the enormous need of those who are blind or living with other disabilities in the developing world we are happy to join forces in order to have a bigger impact in our partner countries', says Ton ten Hove, Director of the foundation Dark & Light, based in Veenendaal, The Netherlands.
Dark & Light was founded in 1982 by the ophthalmologist Martien Cozijnsen. The small 'family foundation' has grown into the largest development organisation in The Netherlands working to prevent blindness and provide rehabilitation for people with disabilities in over 50 projects. Its most important partner countries are Indonesia, Southern Sudan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
The directors of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD in Austria, Belgium and the Czech Republic warmly welcome the new member: 'During the past 6 years we have been collaborating successfully with Dark & Light in Ethiopia, Pakistan and Southern Sudan.
