The Lahmeyer Group continues to grow and has acquired the Mannheim-based firm Pöyry Environment on 1 March 2012. The Pöyry Environment GmbH will be included in Lahmeyer's reporting from 1 January 2012. With this acquisition, Lahmeyer is further expanding its capabilities in the water sector, particularly in the water supply and waste water segments.
Pöyry Environment GmbH, which operated until 2006 as GKW Consult GmbH is a global consulting and engineering company specialising in the sectors water supply, seawater desalination, waste water and solid waste disposal. With some 70 staff, the company had a turnover of € 12.4 million in 2011. Its key markets are in Africa and the firm is also represented in S.E. Europe, S. America, the Middle East and Asia. The company will in future operate under the name Lahmeyer GKW Consult and will co-ordinate its services closely with Lahmeyer International GmbH.
