Kiryat Gat to Implement Telematics Wireless T-Light™ Galaxy Smart City Solution to Control and Monitor Street Lighting, Water Pressure and Other Smart City Sensors
HOLON, Israel, June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Telematics Wireless External Lighting Control Unit (LCU) to Provide a Smart Lighting Solution in Move Towards Establishing Kiryat Gat as Israel's First Truly Smart City
The City of Kiryat Gat has chosen Telematics Wireless Ltd. (Telematics) to deploy its T-Light™ Galaxy Smart City solution including approximately 15,000 External Lighting Control units which will wirelessly cover the entire city with only one Galaxy gateway. The solution is intended to enable the city to fully monitor and control individual and groups of lights, monitor water pressure and water quality in public pipes, monitor sewage levels, waste and noise and air pollution. The rollout will begin in Kiryat Gat's new development - "Karmei Gat", and will subsequently cover the rest of the city with smart sensors.
Telematics' solution enables real-time data analysis and control of all sensors remotely. The Galaxy solution utilizes star topology and deploys an antenna and a gateway to cover the entire city, making it Israel's first truly smart city. The solution, once installed, is expected to help the city to be more energy efficient and provide substantial cost savings. Kiryat Gat and Telematics are expected to implement the system in phases over the next five years.
"This project demonstrates Kiryat Gat's commitment to becoming a smart city, and we believe that this agreement with Telematics will enable us to achieve greater savings and energy efficiency through the implementation of smart wireless lighting solutions," said Ohad Yechezkel, Chief Executive Officer of Qiryat Gat Municipality.
"The Galaxy gateway is the backbone for a complete Smart City solution, in addition to achieving energy savings," said Eddy Kafry, Chief Executive Officer of Telematics Wireless. "The Telematics solution is scalable so that Kiryat Gat will be able to implement other supported smart sensors, such as water resource management, traffic, and environmental monitoring as needed in the coming years."
