The F&S award committee, after evaluating other automotive companies, praised Concept V1 as being an innovative vehicle for future transportation systems.
Karsan, prior to F&S's event, also exhibited its vehicle at London's most visited open-air motor expo: London Motor Expo. Concept V1, having "Future London Taxi" written on it, acted as a point of attraction at Canary Wharf.
Concept V1 aims to eliminate traveling difficulties encountered by the elderly, the wheelchair dependant, the overweight, the pregnant, big families, people with loads: anyone not suitable for a conventional vehicle. Concept V1's unique design, equipped with an automated wheelchair ramp deployed from both sides, providing flexible seat options allowing up to five passengers, including a passenger in a wheelchair, is a forerunner of a new vehicle segment. The vehicle has been designed to provide extra comfort for drivers who spend long hours in the vehicle. Concept V1, in this configuration, accommodates last generation electric powertrain to achieve zero emissions, also features an affordable onboard quick-charge unit able to feed on any AC Power supply network. The electric drive chain (electric motor, power electronics, charger, battery) of Concept V1 is supplied by Renault.
Concept V1 is compliant with conditions of fitness including the "25 feet turning circle requirement" for London, made possible by rear steer wheels.
