New enhanced ID verification delivers faster, more secure check-in for consumers
PALO ALTO, California, April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jumio, the largest online and mobile credentials authentication company, today announced ePassport verification for Netverify®, the most innovative mobile check-in experience, which provides even faster, more reliable options to verify passports. Whether supplying information for airline travel, signing up for a gaming site, or completing financial transactions, being able to scan and verify passport data in real time makes transactions easy, error-free, and secure.
Jumio's latest advancement further enhances the customer experience, expanding scanning capabilities to include new passports with an embedded NFC (near field communication) chip, which contains biometric data that can be accessed to verify passports. As a result, customers can now complete an ID verification process by just scanning their ePassport NFC chip directly from their NFC-enabled smartphone.
ePassport for Netverify is a fully automated solution, which enables users of Android smartphones to verify ePassports containing a NFC chip. These chips include the same information as a printed passport and offer additional security benefits, including encryption of the data being transmitted and assurance that it is an unaltered government-issued passport. The passport scanning functionality, of both traditional passports and using the NFC-embedded chip functionality, results in a better, more efficient customer experience, as well as decreased fraud through faster verification and more reliable data.
"Jumio is once again setting new standards for ID verification by redefining mobile transactions using ePassports," said Stephen Stuut, CEO, at Jumio. "With this new addition to Netverify, customers benefit from a more error-free and streamlined process, while companies benefit by providing a best-in-class user experience that is fast, flawless, safe, and secure."
