WARRINGTON, England, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The laboratory used by the Jeremy Kyle Show has been honoured by the Queen for offering the fastest DNA tests in the world.
AlphaBiolabs has won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation for its efficient DNA testing services which offer accurate results the next working day. The Queen's Awards scheme is regarded as the UK's most prestigious business awards and winners are invited to a special reception at Buckingham Palace in July.
Company director Rachel Davenport says: "When we started working with Jeremy Kyle, we had to perfect a super-fast service to meet their strict deadlines. We tasked our genetics team with developing a streamlined process for DNA extraction and analysis, using the very latest cutting edge technology.
"Developing this system made us realise that we could offer a faster service to all our customers. Waiting for DNA results can be a tense and stressful time and we hope that providing next day results makes the process a little easier for our clients."
Based in Warrington, AlphaBiolabs is the only laboratory trusted by the Jeremy Kyle Show to carry out paternity tests and DNA tests for the popular ITV chat show. And it was working for the television show which led bosses at the firm to realise they could speed up the testing process and offer all its customers next day results.
Rachel explains: "The typical turnaround for other laboratories is between three and five working days, while some of our competitors take even longer as they send samples off to overseas labs. All our testing is carried out in-house at our fully-accredited UK laboratory, which means we can deal with samples quickly and efficiently.
"But speed isn't everything - reliability is extremely important to us too. We are the only UK laboratory to use 24 markers for paternity testing and we test all our negative results twice."
AlphaBiolabs already has a history of innovation, with its recent launch of a same day workplace drug and alcohol testing service and walk-in centres throughout the UK allowing samples to be collected free of charge with no appointment necessary.
