EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, January 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The tough DAF with torpedo for 2012
The Son-based company Jansen has recently acquired a new truck to celebrate 40 years in business. This special truck, of which the company will receive two units, has been developed and produced in cooperation with DAF dealer De Burgh in Eindhoven. The DAF XT, which is the name by which the model will be launched on the market, is the successor of the legendary NAT/NTT model by DAF.
The new DAF XT is based on the DAF XF105 model. A deliberate decision was made to opt for a concept which left the drive train components and their position unchanged. The position of the headlights, front panels, the FUP (Front Underrun Protection) and the front bumper have also remained unaltered. Due to the repositioning of the cab on the chassis, it was an enormous challenge to design the front bonnet so that it would still be possible to recognize the characteristic lines of the DAF XF105. By using an torpedo, with the grille seamlessly merging with the hood, the DAF XT is given a tough and robust look with a modern edge. A serious torpedo for 2012.
Back in 1990, Jansen brought an NTT truck. This NTT has been in operation for about 20 years and it has over 2,500,000 kilometres on the clock. The truck was designed to carry heavy loads and for ease of access to the engine. The truck's tough look attracted many admirers, including Toon Jansen. This purchase helped the Jansen company to build up brand recognition in the region and beyond. Now, twenty years later, this history is being revisited.
