GLASGOW, Scotland, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
CloudSure Environment Is Approved for Public Sector
Cloud company iomart (AIM: IOM), has announced that it has been awarded Pan Government Accreditation (PGA) by the Cabinet Office for its CloudSure environment.
The PGA certification confirms that iomart can process OFFICIAL information at the very highest level of security assurance. The service is available as PSN Private Cloud and a PSN Private Community Cloud or a public cloud accessed from the internet. PSN and non-PSN environments can be connected by an assured bridge on a per-customer base.
Central and local government departments will no longer need to seek an independent assessment of iomart's CloudSure environment and associated services. The accreditation scope also covers infrastructure and storage components and includes iomart's email service, backup and its supporting control panel.
Neil Johnston, Group Technical Operations Director for iomart, said: "Achieving Pan Government Accreditation demonstrates that we can provide complete data assurance for all government departments. A full assessment has been made of our data centre infrastructure and our management of risk and we have been judged to operate to the highest security requirements and best business practice. Combined with our substantial investment in gaining a range of UKAS certified accreditations CloudSure can offer a safe and secure hosting environment for the whole of the public sector."
CloudSure is iomart's award-winning cloud computing environment providing elastic, scalable and on-demand cloud services from Tier 1 infrastructure. The CloudSure portfolio includes public, private and hybrid cloud solutions as well as virtual desktops and bare metal servers topped with a managed services wrap.
The PGA service is assured by means of ISO 27001 and an IT Health CHECK. It has also undergone a review by a CESG IA Architect.
iomart is an accredited supplier to G-Cloud and the Scottish Government Hosting Services Framework and its ICT defences have been assessed under the Cyber Essentials scheme as satisfactorily protecting against commodity cyber threats.
As well as ISO 27001 iomart also carries the further UKAS and APMG-International certified accreditations ISO 9001; ISO 20000; ISO 14001; and ISO 22301 and was one of the first cloud companies to operate to the recently introduced ISO 27018 code of practice to protect Personally Identifiable Information in the cloud.
iomart's independent public cloud consultancy SystemsUp works with a number of public sector organisations including HS2 Limited, The Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service.
