Internationalization of companies and investment between Brazil and Spain sets the tone at the Seminar of the 19th INTERNATIONAL MEETING
SAO PAULO, Nov. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- "Business and opportunities for Spain to invest in Brazil" set the tone of the Seminar held on November 28 at the hotel W Barcelona, with a talk at the 19th INTERNATIONAL MEETING by Paulo Cesar Campos, Spain's Ambassador to Brazil. According to Campos, "in these years of crisis we have been living through, operations in Brazil have helped to bring relief to Spanish companies, and consequently, to increase profits for these enterprises." The gathering is organized by LIDE – Grupo de Lideres Empresariais ('Group of Business Leaders') and is continuing until December 1st.

Campos explained that the Embassy has worked to approach small and medium-sized Spanish companies. "The wealth from the exchange of investment, knowledge and technology is not tapped out yet. The decision to invest is always complex, and Brazil is very attentive to the security of investments, whether they are short-term or long-term."
As Campos sees things, "Brazil exhibits a strong capacity to absorb and generate profits for Spanish companies." He noted that the country is the primary destination for foreign investment by Spanish firms, and that the 20 largest Spanish companies operating in Brazil will provide R$ 41.6 billion for the country by 2017.
Next, Moreira Franco, Minister of Civil Aviation, spoke about "Opportunities for investment in airport infrastructure." The Minister explained that the demand for airline tickets has grown by more than 10% in the past ten years, all thanks to attractive prices and the convenience that the public prefers.
Focusing on Tourism, Marta Blanco Quesada, Director General of Turespana – Instituto de Turismo de Espana (Spanish Tourism Institute) pointed out that in 2014, international tourism grew by around 5%, registering a higher rate than expected. Only Spain achieved growth of 6% in international tourism, a percentage much greater than the weight of Spain's economy in the world.
Francisco Javier Garzon Morales, President of ICEX – Instituto de Comercio Exterior de Espana (Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade) said that Spain is coming out of the crisis, declaring that the forecast for the growth of Spanish GDP for 2015 is 2% and that the European Union is the gateway for foreign business. The only subject he raised that he considers troubling is the rate of unemployment. "Our rate indicates that 24% of the population is out of work now."
