MUNICH, January 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Hubert Burda Media has secured Travis Kalanick, CEO of travel service Uber, to speak at the 11th DLD (Digital, Life, Design) innovation and digital conference from 18 - 20 January 2015 in Munich's HVB Forum. Kalanick will take to the DLD stage on the first day of the conference. Aerospace engineer and "Rosetta" flight operations director Andrea Accamozza, Stewart Butterfield (founder of Flickr), Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post) and Troy Carter, who discovered Lady Gaga, have all confirmed their attendance alongside many other international speakers.
Once again, the 2015 DLD digital conference will be supported by leading companies: Around 30 international partners make DLD a global network and will be represented on the DLD stage by prominent innovators in fields ranging from communications and mobility to consulting and banking. In his keynote speech, Ian Robertson (BMW Group) will discuss new approaches to mobility in the digital world and Michael Mendenhall (Flextronics) will speak about "Connecting the dots on IoT: Intelligence of Things". Markus Braun (Wirecard) shows the rising trend of payments, not only mobile but also lifestyle gadgets, and will introduce innovations and services of contactless payments. How to combine payment and lifestyle will be demonstrated at the DLD15 Wirecard-Bar. Thomas von Koch (EQT) will appear on the "Driving change - an owner's responsibility" panel to discuss the responsibility of proprietors to support and push digital change in commerce. In addition, Christof Mascher, COO of the Allianz Group, will explain how consumer behaviour and requirements are changing in the digital age and the challenges and opportunities this presents for an international financial services provider. DLD15 will also welcome the team from the newly founded Lufthansa Innovation Hub, who will be identifying the partners and technologies that travellers worldwide will be encountering in the long term.
Notable events at this year's conference include the chairmen & speaker dinner in the Residenz (18 January) and the DLD party in the Haus der Kunst (19 January). Two side events run by Burda's advertising marketer BCN and hosted by Professor Scott Galloway (L2) will offer best practices and insights to help luxury and beauty brands strengthen their digital and e-commerce presence (Monday, 19 January, 12:00 in the Literaturhaus and 15:30 in the Bayerischer Hof).
News magazine Focus will also present the third Focus Digital Star Award honouring digital innovations from Germany. The accolade, which comes with media volume worth EUR 50,000, will be awarded on 19 January 2015 during the DLD conference.
The DLD Campus will also be making a reappearance at DLD15 in collaboration with the Internet Business Cluster (IBC): Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon, will hold a public lecture on 19 January at the LMU Munich moderated by Stefan Winners (Member of the Executive Board - Digital at Burda).
