Leading figures and enthusiasts from all industries are to gather at Harwell Oxford Science Park this weekend for the International Space Applications Challenge.
The event is being jointly hosted by the UK Space Agency and The International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) which is based at the vibrant scientific community at Harwell Oxford. It will see leading scientists rubbing shoulders with students, entrepreneurs and engineers, all working together to solve challenges relevant to both space exploration and social needs.
The event starts at 9.00am on Saturday 21 April and continues through the night finishing at 4pm on Sunday 22 April. ISIC is also working with NASA and other organisations to make this an international and unique event.
Barbara Ghinelli, ISIC's Executive Chair, explained: "We are adopting a "Codeathon-style" event which is a type of technology development marathon, drawing on the talents and initiative of the best and the brightest software developers, engineers, designers and technologists from around the world. They take part on a volunteer-basis and respond to real-world problems by developing new types of software."
