LONDON, June 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Gravity R&D, a leading personalization provider, is partnering with Allegro.pl, Poland's market leading auction website. Allegro has been a significant e-commerce player in Central and Eastern Europe for over 15 years.
During a successful pilot that took place in 2014, Gravity delivered personalized recommendations to specific areas of the Allegro.pl site for the purpose of boosting gross merchandising value (GMV) and click through rates (CTRs). Due to the significant impact of these personalized recommendations, Allegro signed a long-term contract with Gravity.
"After developing an in-house solution, we decided to test its effectivity against outside vendors. We chose Gravity based on their flexibility, performance and capabilities which we experienced during the pilot. Based on our experience, we are now in the process of extending using Gravity's solution beyond the website, on other platforms and in new recommendation widgets," said Dominik Ryżko, Allegro Group's Chief Data Scientist.
"Partnering with Allegro is a truly significant step for us. We have several classified sites and online marketplaces among our clients, and we're proud to have Allegro among them as well," said Domonkos Tikk, CEO of Gravity.
Allegro, a part of South African Naspers Group, has been operating online marketplace platforms (such as Allegro.pl in Poland, Aukro.ua in Ukraine, Aukro.cz in the Czech Republic and Molotok.ru in Russia) for over 15 years. Allegro is currently one of the most dynamically developing technological businesses in Poland and the largest e-commerce platform in Central and Eastern Europe. Independent research shows it has been the strongest trade brand in Poland for years, as confirmed by the Polish Brands Ranking of the Rzeczpospolita daily and Superbrands list hailing Allegro as one of the six strongest brands in Poland. PBI/Gemius Megapanel's industry research indicates Allegro.pl is visited each month by nearly 12.5 million users.
Gravity R&D was established in 2007 and since then the startup has managed to snatch up numerous international acknowledgments and awards: for example in 2009 the company's team tied in first place in one of the world's most prestigious thematic competitions, the Netflix Prize. The sudden global fame paved the way for Gravity R&D's growth, and the company now provides recommendations to notable clients such as video streaming site Dailymotion, classified site OLX Brazil (previously Bomnegócio) and Australian job site Jora, part of the SEEK Group. Gravity has also been a member of the EU research project CrowdRec since 2013.
