- Delivering Power Plant Domain Expertise to the Middle East Region
COLUMBIA, Maryland, Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global performance improvement solutions provider GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX) is pleased to announce that its Performance Knowledge Series™ (PKS) of instructor-led courses will be offered in Dubai, UAE, March 2-6, 2014. This series offers Heat Rate Awareness and Improving Combined Cycle Power Plant Performance with coursework focused on methods to improve the availability, reliability and efficiency of power plants.
GP Strategies' Heat Rate Awareness course incorporates material created in collaboration with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a nonprofit organization supported by scientists, engineers and industry experts to conduct research, development and demonstration relating to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for the benefit of the public. Heat Rate Awareness covers fundamental concepts of heat rate and the impact of changing heat rate on operating cost. Small reductions in heat rate translate to significant cost savings. This course provides attendees the knowledge and skills needed to help their plants reduce cost through heat rate improvements.
Attendees of Improving Combined Cycle Power Plant Performance will learn how to analyze problems due to equipment or operational issues and take appropriate action to effectively optimize combined cycle plant performance. Advanced techniques for troubleshooting off-design performance are presented in the form of diagnostic flow charts that students can apply to their own plants.
"We are excited to deliver the PKS of instructor-led courses to the Middle East Region," said Joe Nasal, Senior Vice President of GP Strategies' Energy Group. "Our instructors, Dr. Jeff Parmar, Ron Griebenow, PE and David C. McLaughlin, PE, have over 30 years each of domain expertise in power plant operations, performance testing and troubleshooting heat rate and capacity issues. Their deep knowledge of power plants combined with their compelling instructional skills provide for an active learning environment with assured understanding and retention of all course content. This is an exceptional learning opportunity for power plant managers, engineers and technical leaders."
