Global University Systems Partners with Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe
LONDON, June 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE) and the international education group Global University Systems (GUS) today announced a new strategic education partnership. The agreement will pave the way for the development and delivery of turnkey solutions that can meet the educational requirements of members, clients, students and other stakeholders of both organisations.
Under the partnership, key divisions within the GUS network, including the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) and the online education provider InterActive, will team up with COBCOE to create online training platforms for chambers of commerce and business members. Additionally, COBCOE and GUS will establish a platform for exchanging and sharing international best practice.
COBCOE will furthermore lead the development of essential business thought leadership projects and initiatives through the new partnership. This will give students opportunities to conduct research and make presentations about real issues faced by the international business community. The partnership will also involve academic collaboration as institutions within GUS will benefit from tapping into COBCOES's network of experts for guest-speaker events and visiting lectures.
Dessy Ohanians, GUS Managing Director of Corporate & Certificate Programmes, said, "Working in a sector which is directly affected by international agreements and by geopolitics requires constant training and continuing professional development. We're confident that international trade professionals will benefit from our partnership with COBCOE as we aim to develop a number of tailored programmes to meet their professional needs. We are looking forward to working with COBCOE and strongly believe the exchange of knowledge and ideas is going to be a very positive experience for both our organisations."
Anne-Marie Martin, Chief Executive of COBCOE, said: "This new partnership gives us a new focal point from which to build our centre of excellence for the chamber of commerce community. An important part of this will be creating unique thought leadership projects around trade and commerce from a practical, business-based viewpoint."
The collaboration goes further to support work-integrated learning opportunities as COBCOE plans to help narrow the skills and experience gaps across Europe by creating a substantial internship programme, offering GUS students hands-on business experience across the COBCOE network of chambers of commerce and their members.
The COBCOE offices will be co-located at the GUS campus at Tower Hill in London, where it will be based in the hub of the organisation's day-to-day operations. As well as providing a brand new home for COBCOE's growing operations, this brings a greater potential for further collaboration between both organisations in the heart of London.
