The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport has joined forces with television heavyweights ITN Productions for the second year in a row to celebrate the Global Logistics & Transport News Programme at the CILT Annual Logistics Conference and Dinner 2014. The successful viewing played throughout the conference which took place at the Chesford Grange Hotel, attracting over 150 delegates.
During the conference Steve Agg, CEO of CILT UK explained the biggest challenges facing the professionals within the logistics and transport sector. He outlined that the technological enhancements with mobile devices and growing consumer demands has shifted the landscape of logistics and transport entirely.
Neil Chandler, COO of the Shop Direct Group discussed how retailers need to keep pace with the growing demands of consumers as expectations are increasing led by consumer behaviours changing and the patience of consumer narrowing. He continues to explain how better understanding the technological aspects of the Omni-Channel shopper like purchase & behavioural data, broadband enhancements and same-day delivery can help retailer's better delivery products to consumers.
Also, Dick Stead, Executive Chairman at Yodel sat down with ITN reporter Sharon Thomas to discuss how the power of social media is driving change within the logistics and transport sector. He ran through how Yodel has learned a tremendous amount from monitoring and reacting to social media channels to retain customers and crisis manage complaints.
