Gieves & Hawkes, headquartered at No.1 Savile Row, offers men's bespoke tailoring and ready to wear clothing with a proud British tradition. The company recently cemented its position as a global luxury brand, opening a concession in a world-leading London department store. A custom window display further enhanced the brand's presence in store, incorporating digital screen technology to show a short film created for the Autumn/Winter 14 season and shot by filmmaker Eddie Wrey.
AVMI installed a professional custom screen display using the very latest in video wall technology. This was blended with the more traditional window display elements for a more contemporary approach that still demonstrates the core brand values.
The video wall uses 3 professional grade ultra slim 46" screens with impressive high resolution and barely visible bezels, mounted portrait side by side. These are powered by a professional digital signage platform from INSM and utilise an Aperture powered Raspberry Pi Media Player from Anders Electronics. Aperture was developed by Silver Curve, a leading digital signage software developer, to enable high end performance at a low cost and extremely low power consumption. A key feature of this system is that Gieves & Hawkes can easily manage the flow of content on the screen and change it remotely, which is of crucial importance given the prime location of the technology.
The digital screens have allowed Gieves & Hawkes to present their unique film and enhance their presence in a leading department store, affirming their global reputation as one of the leading menswear and tailoring brands in the world.
Sam Thompson, IT Manager UK for Gieves & Hawkes commented, "We have experimented with digital signage before but this is the first time we have implemented a complete solution. AVMI were able to take this simple yet effective approach and work quickly, turning the initial vision into a reality. We have been able to incorporate this digital element in a way that blends with the traditional design yet brings our retail estate in line with more modern consumers."
