LONDON, December 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Gaming website Jackpotjoy has announced details of its latest bingo winner. Miss Lynn B won £6,544 on the site's 75 ball bingo game earlier this month - starting from lowly 10p stakes to scoop her major jackpot.
One of the staples of online bingo, the 75 ball version of the game is enormously popular.
Visitors to the bingo rooms are greeted with a 5x5 grid, laid out with numbered cards (from 1 to 75). A caller gives the numbers to the room and each player marks off any corresponding number. Players are allowed to daub multiple cards in one game, increasing their chances of winning.
Pre-ordained patterns appear in the top left of the screen, which winning players will match to their cards. If all the numbers on a card are marked, this is known as a blackout. As long as players have marked off the required boxes, they win, regardless of whether they have filled in other numbers not part of the pattern.
The chat element of the rooms are vital, lending a community atmosphere to games, and turning what would be a standard game of online bingo into a communal experience closer to that found in the traditional bingo hall. The chat window is moderated by a 'Chat Host' - highlighted in red - who's there to field questions from new players and provide a point of contact for everyone. Chat Host's also hold their own games-within-a-game, where extra cash prizes are up for grabs.
Miss B is just the latest in a long line of bingo winners at Jackpotjoy. She said it had been "a great win and I'm happy for it to be clearing. I have a few expenses to clear which will be great ... the rest, I'm thinking of spending on a holiday in search of the sun!"
The Gamesys Group was founded by Noel Hayden in April 2001 with a small team of developers. The aim was to build a profitable online entertainment business providing not just bingo but a whole range of different online casino games such as roulette and slots.
