-- Interstate Batteries stands out for its particularly impressive quality and service
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the automotive batteries market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Interstate Batteries, Inc. with the 2014 United States Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership. Interstate Batteries' products are considered the best in the automotive industry for their battery quality and maintenance. Since 2007, every year, at least 50 percent of automotive technicians have chosen Interstate Batteries as the overall best brand, while the nearest competitor has never been granted the top ranking by more than 12 percent of the technicians.
In addition to the most number of "overall best" ratings, 93 percent of technicians whose shops primarily install Interstate Batteries' products rate Interstate Batteries as the top brand. This combination of top "overall best" rating and strong leadership index (LI) score has earned the company the top Product Leadership index score, normalized to 10.0. Interstate Batteries is unchallenged in the Product Leader quadrant, while competitors are in vulnerable-to-critical positions.
"Since batteries are perishable products, Interstate Batteries provides the necessary maintenance through its 300 distributors and 1,000 route sales managers," said Frost & Sullivan Global Director, Tonya Fowler. "These representatives visit their dealers every two weeks to check if their batteries are on shelves, if they need to be replaced, and restock sold batteries. This hands-on approach ensures that all of Interstate Batteries' products are fresh."
The high level of ownership has given Interstate Batteries a strong reputation among automotive technicians. Even technicians who do not work in shops that install Interstate Batteries regard the products highly; so much so that 19 percent of those who do not primarily install Interstate Batteries selected Interstate Batteries as the overall best.
In technicians' comparisons of Interstate Batteries and its nearest competitor, the former leads in 13 of the 16 specific purchase factors. It is particularly strong on quality, brand reputation, and accuracy of order filling. Many technicians who rated it the "best" were especially appreciative of the longevity of the products and their ability to hold a charge.
"While quality and maintenance appear to be the backbone of Interstate Batteries' success, the company's belief system also plays a major role in its success," concludes Fowler. "For instance, Interstate Batteries recycles more batteries than it sells, helping the environment support future generations of automotive battery consumers."
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated product and implementation excellence to increase market share. The award recognizes the vision alignment, process design, and operational efficiency, as well as the technological sophistication and favorable culture within the company. It also lauds the value, reliability and quality of the product/service and its relevance to the needs of the industry in terms of value and design.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
