Forget Far Flung Yoga Retreats... Almost a Third of Brits opt to Enhance Wellbeing Through Healthy Staycations
LONDON, September 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
With almost three quarters (72%) of Brits open to embarking on a health based holiday, it seems wellness breaks are certainly a trend that is climbing fast. However, rather than jetting off to Ibizan yoga retreats or scaling the Alps, Flora ProActiv has uncovered that the UK tops the healthy holiday destination chart*, beating typically popular Mediterranean sun soaked lounging.
While the number of MAMILs** (Middle Aged Men in Lycra) and HOFFs (Hot, Fit and Fifty) continue to rise, the Flora ProActiv research also found that more than four in 10 Brits over 45 (41%) admit they're as or more active on their holidays now as when they were younger.
However, while silver surfers (over 55) surveyed embrace a more active lifestyle, it seems medical checks are less of priority. Two in five (40%) have never had their cholesterol checked. Furthermore, 41% of those 55+ Baby Boomers who have been tested have raised cholesterol, of which a shocking 12% have taken no action to tackle the heart health risk.
Albane Jeanbin from Flora ProActiv explains: "It's worrying that so many seem to be ignoring the risks of elevated cholesterol. Flora ProActiv is on a mission to lower the nation's cholesterol through our starter kits, 21-day Challenge and tasty recipes, to help and inspire people to begin their cholesterol lowering journey, with simple changes to their diet and lifestyle".
Combined with healthy eating and exercise, using Flora ProActiv can help people lower cholesterol levels by 7% to 10% in two to three weeks***. Find out more by visiting http://www.floraproactiv.co.uk
