LONDON, November 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Congratulations to Network Rail, who have won the "Innovative Mobile App" of the year prize at the prestigious UK IT Industry awards organised by the British Computer Society (BCS) and Computing magazine. The winning project - "Verify S&C" uses AMT-SYBEX Affinity Fieldreach® software and was a key early deliverable in the major ORBIS initiative to boost the safety and efficiency of the railway infrastructure.
Network Rail sought to establish a highly-accurate catalogue of its asset base to support their Asset Information strategy and regulatory requirements, the first phase related to switches and crossings (S&C). Working with AMT-SYBEX, the project team developed a mobile solution based on Affinity Fieldreach, which allows engineers to capture asset data with iPhones and synchronise it with the company's central systems. The new solution provides Network Rail with an accurate record of its asset data, which will allow the company to maintain and invest in its infrastructure more efficiently.
Andy Miller, Group CEO of AMT-SYBEX, commented "We have a long and successful history of innovation with Network Rail and are delighted to see them recognised by the industry for the visionary ORBIS programme which is transforming the railway industry. Fieldreach enables work in the harshest of environments and we're thrilled to see its real world capability showcased in this manner. We're continuing to work with Network Rail as they mobilise other business processes and Fieldreach is now in use on many thousands of their devices."
