Europeans Spend 270 Monthly Euros More for Recreational Activities During Summer
BARCELONA, Spain, July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
According to a study about consumer habits during summer made by Tiendeo, the average monthly spend will increase by €165 for restaurant and bar bills.
During the summer Europeans search most often for offers related to fashion and food.
Sales and start of the holidays are two summer events which can have an impact on family finances.
Tiendeo.com, the online catalogues and deals portal, has conducted a survey among its users to better understand the spending forecasts for European families during the summer months.
Leisure and eating out constitute the greatest increase in consumer spending
During the summer months, as well as the costs involved in travelling to your chosen destination and accommodation, families also have to take into account their spending when they arrive at their holiday destination, and so the budget continues to rise.
Tiendeo has conducted a survey among its users to discover the spending habits of Europeans during this period. The survey showed that 72% of consumers say they will maintain or increase their spending during these months (compared with the monthly expenditure for the rest of the year). Thus we can observe that leisure becomes a much greater focus of consumer spending during the summer, since 41% of users say they spend more money than usual on recreational activities: respondents plan to increase their average monthly spending by €270.
Moreover, 56% of users will increase their spending in pubs and restaurants. In this case, consumers will spend €165 more per month on eating out.
Online catalogues and deals: the most effective way to save this summer
During the summer, consumers are also looking to make the most of the latest deals and promotions: offers on clothing and footwear are the most searched for 49% off users.
Moreover, promotions on groceries are the second most searched for offers by Tiendeo users; 30% show a regular interest in them over the summer months.
Nor does the way people search for the best deals and prices change at this time of year. In this regard, the Tiendeo survey indicates that 85% of consumers will consult digital catalogues, while 59% will opt to flick through the paper leaflets posted through letterboxes or displayed at points of sale. Based on the survey data, 44% of users alternate between the two formats to find the best summer deals.
