Mrs. Bloom was a resident of Montreal, Canada and Palm Beach, Florida and was a patron of the arts. For many years she was a devoted volunteer guide at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. It was at this museum where in 1950 Mrs. Bloom saw a ceramics exhibition that inspired her to become a collector and connoisseur of porcelain.
She made numerous philanthropic contributions and donations to the arts. Perhaps the most significant was the gift of a red anchor period Chelsea rabbit tureen to the Gardiner Museum in Toronto, the national ceramics museum of Canada.
Mrs. Bloom's interest in English and Chinese ceramics prevails in this collection, which also encompasses an array of fine and decorative arts, including paintings by Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita and Moise Kisling who both worked in Paris, France during the early to mid 20th century.
