--Q4000 electromagnetic water meter offers extended operating life and simplified maintenance--
Elster (NYSE: ELT) announced today that it will showcase its latest range of electronic C&I water meters, including its innovative Q4000 with a replaceable battery pack for extended meter operating life, at Wetex, the regional exhibition of water, energy and environmental services for industry and local authorities, from March 13-15 in Dubai, UAE.
At Wetex, Elster builds on 50 years of experience supplying water meters to Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. Significant customers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman have turned to Elster for innovative water metering solutions to manage and conserve their water supplies more efficiently.
The Q4000 is ideal for utility applications, including network monitoring and commercial billing. The Q4000 features bi-directional pulse communications that are fully compatible with the latest data logging and automated meter reading (AMR) equipment. Along with low head loss, high accuracy and a fully sealed waterproof IP68 housing construction, the Q4000 represents the latest technology in battery-powered electromagnetic meters.
The new version of the Q4000 provides long, reliable battery life meaning fewer expensive service visits for the lowest whole-life cost. The meter maintains a fast 0.5 second sampling rate to ensure no loss of measurement accuracy. Furthermore, the easy to exchange, specially designed battery pack extends the meter's operating life and makes it possible for the Q4000 to operate beyond 10 years in very hot climates such as the Gulf and Middle East regions.
"By lowering the service interval for battery replacement, utilities can now spend more time focusing on real value-creating activities such as reducing leakage and ensuring an effective distribution of water throughout their network," said Alex Elder, regional sales director of Elster's water metering business.
"With its replaceable battery pack to extend the meter's operating life and sheer simplicity to set up and use, the new Q4000 represents a leap forward in electronic water metering," Elder added.
At Wetex, Elster also will display its residential smart electronic AMR-enabled products featuring technology with no moving parts, making them more resistant to blockage. These Smart Meters contain a unique air detection system to prevent the measurement of air flow and therefore deliver highly accurate measurement of water only. These residential electronic Smart Meters support utilities in the need to manage their valuable water resource more efficiently.
