EFY Awards 2012 to be Announced Today

EFY Awards 2012, Electronics For You's (EFY's) annual initiative to honour leaders in the electronics industry, will be announced today at Le Meridien Hotel, Bengaluru. These awards will be presented across 26 product categories to brands voted by the readers of EFY and Electronics Bazaar magazines. The awards also consist of six special categories, selected by a jury of four members.
Ever since its inception in 2004, EFY Readers' Choice Awards are now a regular annual feature, which is looked forward to eagerly by the industry. The aim of EFY Awards has been to motivate, support and recognise outstanding brands, organisations and individuals who have acted as catalysts in furthering the growth story of the Indian electronics industry. The awards have evolved with time in response to the demands of and suggestions received from the stakeholders of the Indian electronics ecosystem and our numerous readers.
"To keep up with the changes in the industry and the products churned out by it, the products for which the awards are announced are reviewed every year and changed as per requirement. This year the EFY Awards Jury decided upon three new awards which are Best Initiative by a Government Organisation, Certificate of Excellence 2012 for Emerging Organisation of the Year, and Certificate of Excellence 2012 for Government Organisation of the Year," says Ramesh Chopra, founder and vice chairman, EFY Group.
Methodology of the Awards
As the title of the awards indicates, the nominees and winners of EFY Readers' Choice Awards for the product categories are selected on the basis of voting by the readers of EFY. The votes are collated to assess the Top 5 Brands and then the winner amongst them is selected on the basis of the most popular brand voted. The respondents vary across segments - mainly from the electronics industry, professionals and even associations representing different segments of electronics. In case of a tie between two brands for the same award, the case is referred to the jury, and the winner is selected on the basis of their final vote.
In case of EFY Jury Awards, the jury is instrumental in deciding the winners for the special categories - Electronics Man of the Year, Electronics Organisation of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. The jury can also decide upon new categories. Here, the jury nominates individuals or organisations for the awards, and then a winner is selected through consensus after discussion or through voting. This year the jury comprises Rajoo Goel, secretary general, ELCINA, Dr. RC Chopra, senior advisor, CII, Dr. DS Rawat, secretary general, ASSOCHAM, and Suresh Khanna, secretary general, CEAMA.
