Dumfries and Galloway Council Launch Online School Top Ups With sQuid

DUMFRIES, Scotland, January 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- sQuid, the electronic payments network and Dumfries and Galloway Council, today announced the launch of online top ups at Moffat Academy for secondary school pupils.

Dumfries and Galloway Council have pioneered the use of their National Entitlement Card (NEC) at local schools to enable sQuid electronic money to be used to top up school cashless catering accounts so that children can pay for food and drink in the school canteen, without the need to take cash to school.

sQuid on the NEC launched in Dumfries and Galloway early last year. Moffat Academy has launched sQuid online payments on the NEC, enabling parents to top up the sQuid purse on their child's NEC card online, and is another good example of how sQuid can be used to facilitate small value payments.
