EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
- DLL, a Global Provider of Asset-based Financial Solutions, has Been Shortlisted for the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards' Brand New Category, Circular Economy Project of the Year. This Nomination Comes Just Three Months After DLL Received the Circular Economy Investor Award From the Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
- Rewarding Sustainable Commercial Efforts
The BusinessGreen Leaders Awards, now in its sixth year and organized by BusinessGreen.com, the leading UK information source for the green economy, will bring together over 600 executives, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and campaigners to celebrate the green economy's most exciting and innovative achievements from the past 12 months. The Awards celebrate those organizations and individuals that are working day in, day out to turn global sustainability pledges into an economic and commercially viable reality.
The Circular Economy Project of the Year is one of the new categories this year and is open to innovative projects that have not just curbed waste levels, but have delivered broader financial and competitive benefits to the organization and have helped to engage employees with circular economy issues. DLL has been recognized for enabling circular business models through its Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) program.
Supporting circular models through financial solutions
As the world population grows, greater demand will be placed on finite resources. A smarter use of these resources is at the heart of the circular model, challenging us to find ways to remanufacture, recycle and reuse materials.
With a focus on usage rather than ownership of assets, DLL works with equipment manufacturers and dealers to develop second and third life revenue streams, thereby actively promoting refurbishment and remanufacturing. DLL further ensures that the right financing models are in place so that manufacturers and dealers can maintain responsibility for the management of the equipment throughout its complete life cycle, from production through to disposal. DLL's LCAM program enables manufacturers and dealers to implement a sustainable business approach that combines profitability with environmental and social benefits. In addition to supporting the shift to a circular economy, DLL's partners benefit from the additional revenue and are able to serve a broader customer base, strengthening their market position.
Bill Stephenson, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board at DLL, comments: "We are delighted that the value of our LCAM program is once again being recognized. At DLL, we believe the financial industry can play an integral and leading role in creating a more sustainable world and economy. We will continue working with our partners and their end customers to provide responsible solutions that help all parties realize their aspirations in a challenging and constantly evolving market."
Today, second and third life equipment comprises 2% of DLL's leasing portfolio. The company expects this percentage to grow to 20% by 2025. DLL has made a concerted effort to work alongside its partners in addressing the challenges of adopting circular economic principles. Believing that circular solutions can only be developed through close collaboration with others, DLL has also developed a series of white papers to share their learnings and inspire other companies to take action.
Finalists for the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards will be announced on July 6 in London.
