Alpha-lactalbumin is the primary protein in human milk and Davisco produces the cleanest commercially available form at more than 92 percent purity. This protein is valuable for infant nutrition and the level of purity Davisco achieves allows infant formula manufacturers to produce products that more closely resemble human breast milk. The summit will also explore tryptophan's role in metabolic processes, as Davisco's alpha-lactalbumin is uniquely high in this amino acid.
"This is the first time that this level of alpha-lactalbumin expertise will be together in one spot," said Polly Olson, Vice President of New Business Development, Sales and Marketing at Davisco. "Davisco, Business Unit of Agropur, produces the purest alpha-lactalbumin in the world at our factory in Jerome, Idaho. It's appropriate that we hold the Alpha Summit in Southern Idaho, creating a think tank of scientists in dairy protein research throughout the world."
Alpha Summit attendees will receive a tour of Davisco's state-of-the-art Jerome Cheese Facility, an engineering marvel that can create more than 1 million pounds of alpha-lactalbumin per year. In the recent past, teams of lab scientists could only produce about five grams of alpha-lactalbumin over the course of a week. The Alpha Summit will also include a seminar featuring nine individuals who are leaders in their respective research fields.
