CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle batteries, has added to its extensive and growing list of accolades by once again dominating the Auto Express battery charger tests; taking the top two places with its MXS 3.6 and MXS 5.0.
The annual tests challenge even the most hardened Smart Battery Charger by closely examining a number of abilities including their ability to charge when cold, recondition old batteries and deal with the various types of battery found in modern cars as well as checking printed instructions, leads, clamps, ease of use, and in particular this year - safety.
Ten chargers were put to the test including some of CTEK's closest rivals. However, CTEK's 12V Battery Charger, the MXS 3.6 prevailed as it did in 2009 and 2011 (the tests weren't performed in 2010), taking the top award of 'Best Buy 2012'. Referred to by Auto Express as the 'complete package', the MXS 3.6 took a maximum of five out of five stars for its ability to charge and condition any type of lead-acid battery as well as its overall quality, from the nylon storage bag through to its components and leads it comes with.
Taking second place, but still with five out of five stars, was CTEK's more powerful MXS 5.0. Having recently been awarded 'Best Buy 2011' by Auto Express's German equivalent, Auto Bild, the MXS 5.0 was recognised for the speed at which it charges, its reconditioning mode, and as with the MXS 3.6, its overall quality.
