Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors Warn of Potential Risks Posed by Dermal Fillers

Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors, who work on a no win no fee basis, is warning of the risks and side effects associated with dermal fillers going wrong which account for one in ten of all enquiries received from dissatisfied patients seeking compensation.

The Manchester based law firm, the first to establish a practice specialising in cosmetic surgery negligence, was featured on ITV programme 'Tonight: The Real  Cost of Beauty' disclosing that 10 per cent of cosmetic surgery claim enquiries relate to instances of dermal fillers that have gone wrong.

The TV documentary featured a number of patients where dermal fillers did go wrong, including 35 year old Jo Sandford who suffered a life-threatening infection after having permanent fillers injected into her cheeks.

Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors has seen a particularly significant increase in patient enquiries seeking claims for dermal fillers gone wrong  in the last 12 months consistent with a recently published Government report which described them as a 'crisis waiting to happen'.

A recent survey of The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) members revealed that more than two thirds (69%) of surgeons encountered patients suffering complications from temporary fillers, whilst nearly half (49%) of surgeons saw problems with semi-or permanent fillers. Out of those patients who suffered problems with permanent substances, nearly nine out of ten (84%) required corrective surgery or were deemed untreatable due to the damage caused when dermal fillers have gone wrong.
