LONDON, April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Chubb today announced the creation of two new management roles and three promotions as it continues to meet the evolving needs of brokers and customers in the UK and Ireland and further builds its presence in the middle market.
New Custom Industry Solutions product cluster
The company has created a new Custom Industry Solutions product cluster to bring together its market-leading expertise in the Life Science, Info Tech, Package and Entertainment industry segments.
Effective immediately, Karen Strong, currently Info Tech Manager, UK and Ireland, will serve as Head of Custom Industry Solutions, UK and Ireland and will develop and lead this product cluster. Karen will bring together the company's dedicated solutions in these areas, working with her colleagues and other product heads to align expertise with market needs. She will continue to be based in London and will report to Sara Mitchell, Head of Corporate Division, UK and Ireland. The UK and Ireland Life Science, Info Tech, Entertainment and Package teams will report to Karen.
Karen brings to the role over 30 years of insurance industry experience, the last 17 of them with Chubb. She joined the company in 2000 as Senior Property Underwriter, subsequently serving in a number of underwriting and management roles in the areas of Property, Package and, since 2015, Info Tech.
New London regional focus
Chubb has also created a new London region to complement its structure in the four areas where it has local presence through regional offices and empowered underwriting: Midlands and the South; the North; Scotland; and Ireland.
Effective 1 May, Emma Bartolo, currently Environmental Risk Manager for the UK and Ireland, has been promoted to the newly-created role of Corporate Regional Manager, London. Reporting to Sara Mitchell, and working with business line heads and underwriting teams on the ground, Emma will be responsible for the region's financial performance, as well as owning its growth strategy and driving the development of the middle market portfolio.
Emma joined the company as an Environmental Risk underwriter in 2008 before being appointed to her current role in 2013. Emma was recognised as Young Underwriter of the Year in 2014, has led extensive educational work with the broker and risk management communities and has played a key role in promoting diversity and inclusion within Chubb.
New leadership for Environmental Risk
Effective 1 May, Glenn O'Halloran, currently Senior Environmental Risk Underwriter, will succeed Emma as Environmental Risk Manager for the UK and Ireland. Reporting to Mark Roberts, recently promoted to the new role of Chief Underwriting Officer for the UK and Ireland, Glenn will be responsible for the product line's financial performance and will drive its continued growth and development across the UK and Ireland as well as Chubb Global Markets, the company's London-based wholesale division.
Glenn has played a key role in the growth of the company's UK and Ireland portfolio since his arrival in the UK in 2015, and has additionally had specific responsibility for the Irish portfolio for the last two years. Glenn joined Chubb in 2013 underwriting Environmental Risk in Chubb's Sydney office and brings extensive industry experience from his prior experience as an environmental consultant.
Karen, Emma and Glenn will continue to be based in London.
Sara Mitchell, Head of Corporate Division, UK and Ireland at Chubb, said:
"I am excited about the creation of these two new roles which will help us to further build on our strengths in the middle market.
Chubb is well-known for its specialist industry vertical expertise and bringing this together into one new Custom Industry Solutions team with dedicated leadership will help us to continue to innovate and build our proposition. Another of Chubb's differentiators is our strong regional branch structure that delivers true local presence to our broker partners and their clients. Giving increased focus to London will allow us to better capitalise on growth opportunities with brokers in the country's most populated region."
David Robinson, Division President, UK and Ireland and Chubb, said:
"These promotions underline our bench strength at Chubb and I look forward to working with Karen, Emma and Glenn in their new roles.
Karen epitomises everything that is great about Chubb and her experience and leadership will help to position us strongly for future growth across the whole of our Custom Industry Solutions proposition.
This is a well-deserved promotion for Emma whose leadership has been instrumental in making Chubb one of the market leaders in Environmental Risk in the UK market over the past four years.
Glenn's contribution to our growth in Environmental Risk has been significant and, supported by his valuable industry experience in major mining and water-related construction projects, his expertise will help to ensure that our proposition remains relevant and customer-centric."
