Chemring Technology Solutions Demonstrates Policy Managed ePDG Capability at Mobile World Congress

Chemring Technology Solutions, a developer of world-class mobile data management solutions, will be demonstrating how SmartSwitch uses intelligent on-device policy management to integrate with Cisco's Evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG).

The SmartSwitch solution for policy-managed access selection enables both SIM and non-SIM devices to be integrated into the mobile core, over any trusted or untrusted Wi-Fi network. This allows operators to offer subscribers services on any device, via any network, maximising their over the top service based revenues.

As service providers develop more value added services, such as Voice over Wi-Fi, they must deliver them to subscribers on any device via any network. The increased use of SIM-free tablet devices, which use public Wi-Fi, has challenged service providers to ensure that services are always available to their customers. SmartSwitch's policy controlled ePDG client now enables service providers to register a non-SIM device into a subscriber's account, automatically select the best Wi-Fi network (trusted or untrusted), connect to the mobile core and deliver the value added services.
